Fresh, healthy meals prepared on site
Every morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea prepared in our own kitchen, with vegetables straight from our children's garden whenever they're in season. Menus rotate seasonally and shift with what's ready in the garden.
Our healthy meals
Every meal at Creative Minds is prepared fresh on site by our in-house cook. Children eat morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea together as a group, with vegetables grown in our own garden whenever they're in season. Dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences are handled individually, just let us know when you enrol.
From our garden, to our kitchen
Our children grow a real, working garden in our backyard.
When the harvest is ready, the children help pick it. The cook works it into that week's menu. It means kids see exactly where their lunch comes from, and they're often more willing to eat vegetables they helped grow themselves.
Allergies, dietary, and cultural needs
Every child eats. Tell us what your child needs at enrolment, and our cook will handle the rest.

Common questions about meals
Are meals included in the cost, or charged extra?
All meals are included in your daily fee — there's no separate charge for food. That covers morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, plus water and milk throughout the day. You don't need to pack a lunchbox unless you'd like to send something specific.
Can you cater to allergies, vegetarian, or other dietary needs?
Yes, tell us what your child needs at enrolment and our cook will work it into the daily menu — not as a separate "alternative" meal that leaves your child eating something different from everyone else, but as part of what the whole group is having where possible. We've worked with severe allergies, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free over the years. If you're not sure whether we can accommodate something, ask us — chances are we can.
Where does your produce come from?
The majority of the produce comes from local suppliers, with a preference for fresh and seasonal over packaged. We also have a real, working children's garden where the kids help plant, water, and harvest whatever's in season. When the harvest is ready, it goes straight into the kitchen and onto the menu that week.
What does a typical day's menu look like for younger children?
For our under-twos we adjust textures, portion sizes, and ingredients to suit each child's stage — purées and finger foods for the youngest, working up to the same meals the rest of the group is eating. A typical day might include soft fruit for morning tea, a vegetable pasta bake or shepherd's pie for lunch, and cheese with veggie sticks in the afternoon. We follow Ministry of Health guidelines for portion sizes and food safety. If your child has specific needs around weaning or introducing new foods, we'll work with you on it.
Who prepares and cooks the meals?
We have a dedicated in-house cook who prepares every meal fresh on site each morning. The cook works closely with our teachers and the children.
